Published 24 July 2020

We are very happy to announce that the data centre belonging to the “Qingdao National Laboratory for Marine Science and Technology” in China will be installed with a SEM-SAFE® high-pressure water mist fire safety system.

“Qingdao National Laboratory for Marine Science and Technology” is jointly constructed by the Ministry of Science, Shandong province and Qingdao city. It provides the premises for large innovative scientific and technological research.

Danfoss Fire Safety and LAKC partnership

The project is a result of the successful collaboration between our sales team in China and our business partner, LAKC (Lian An Ke Chuang (Beijing) fire protection technology co. LTD.).

Fire safety in data centres

Storing data is an absolute must these days and it is crucial that data centres are fully and properly equipped to handle a fire situation.
With SEM-SAFE® high-pressure water mist from Danfoss, the fight against fire is more efficient, with the ultimate goal of saving lives, limiting equipment damage and keeping the data centre running.

SEM-SAFE® system

Danfoss Fire Safety supplied 4 pcs. SEM-SAFE® high-pressure water mist pump unit, 1,877 pcs. SEM-SAFE® high-pressure water mist nozzles and 64 pcs. SEM-SAFE® section valve assemblies.

The SEM-SAFE® system will cover key areas such as the data hall, power distribution room, UPS room, battery room and generator room.

Installation of the SEM-SAFE® high-pressure water mist system is expected to be completed in summer 2020.

The key stakeholders were impressed by:

  • The features of the Danfoss high-pressure pump, which are virtually maintenance free as they are lubricated by water. See here an introduction video to the Danfoss Axial Pump
  • The many years of experience that Danfoss Fire Safety has in protecting data centres worldwide
  • The fact that our system is FM approved.
