The Triple-E series comprises 20 ultra large container ships and these are among some one of the largest ship in the world. It sets new standards in the container industry. The name “Triple E” is derived from the class’s three design principles: “Economy of scale, Energy efficient and Environmentally improved”. The Triple E design helped Maersk win the “Sustainable Ship Operator of the Year” award in July 2011. The series is protected with a Danfoss Semco low-pressure CO2 system for engine room total flooding and cargo holds.
