Isala Clinics, The Netherlands
Equinix Data Centre, The Netherlands
Heinrich-Hertz Institute, Germany

Isala Clinics is one of the largest, non-university hospitals in The Netherlands. The complex is particularly appealing because of the organic style of architecture, the interior garden and green landscape. SEM-SAFE® has proven to be the perfect solution for this beautiful hospital, as it does not interfere with the architectural integrity of the building.

The impressive data centre facility of Equinix AM3 offers a “digital gateway to Europe”. The entire building is protected with the SEM-SAFE® high-pressure water mist system. The protected areas comprise data halls, corridors, transformer rooms, mechanical plant rooms, switch gear rooms, generator spaces, battery rooms and UPS rooms.

Being able to keep the data centre operating round the clock is critical. With SEM-SAFE®, the Equinix AM3 data centre can function even during a fire extinguishing process.

Situated in the capital of Germany, the Heinrich Hertz Institute, has a worldwide reputation for leading-edge research and development with IT.  With a height of 100 m, the building consists of:

  • Laboratories
  • Laser rooms
  • Computer work spaces
  • Offices
  • Meeting rooms
  • Server rooms
  • Emergency diesel backups
  • Workshop areas
  • Cafeterias
  • Etc.

During the building renovation, it was concluded that a fire fighting system was needed in order to increase the fire resistance.  Minimum water damage was the main criteria when choosing the fire fighting system. With this in mind, SEM-SAFE® high-pressure water mist was chosen. During the installation of the SEM-SAFE® system, the building continued to be in operation.

Ten Trinity Square, United Kingdom

Alsion University, Denmark

Ten Trinity Square is truly one of London’s landmark buildings, overlooking the river Thames at Tower Hill. It is a Grade II listed building, meaning it has been placed on the Statutory List of Buildings of Special Architecture or Historic Interest. In 2012, the building was used as the set for the famous James Bond film: Skyfall.

Ten Trinity Square  consists of a hotel section, a residential space, restaurants, bars, spa and a club. This beautiful historical building is completely protected with  SEM-SAFE® high-pressure water mist system for fire fighting.  The aesthetic design of the SEM-SAFE® nozzles integrates well with the unique architectural features of the building. Built in the renaissance style, Magdeburg’s old and beautiful city hall has a SEM-SAFE® water mist system installed. Heritage buildings benefit from using a water mist system, due to low water consumption and consequent low water damage, as well as the fact that the small pipes are easily integrated into the surroundings, without harming the irreplaceable building, its interior and fixtures.

Alsion was built to create a unique environment in a unique building at a unique location to stimulate regional growth. More than 2,200 nozzles have been installed in this prestigious building. Torben Sten Hansen, from the Danish consulting engineering firm Sloth Møler states: “ The water mist system fits well with the innovative “spirit” characterising this project”.

Ensuring the fire protection of one of the fastest-growing rapid transit systems in the world was a challenge. Since 2008, more than 6,000 nozzles and over 40,000 micro nozzles have been installed in the metro stations in Shanghai. In addition to the metro line, SEM-SAFE® also covers public spaces and access areas, electrical equipment rooms and technical rooms.

Danfoss Silicon Power is an innovative designer and manufacturer of power modules for solar and wind power plants, electric cars, medical equipment, industrial and automotive controls as well as many other appliances.  The clean room at Danfoss Silicon Power is one of the largest in Europe, with approximately 3,900 m2. The clean room has been equipped with highly specialised production machinery, which is vital for manufacturing sensitive components.

In line with this cutting edge technology, SEM-SAFE® high-pressure water mist system from Danfoss Semco was chosen for fire protection in the clean room at Danfoss Silicon Power. The SEM-SAFE® high-pressure water mist system uses very little water. In case of a fire, the water damage will be kept to a minimum. This is imperative for the high-tech clean rooms in Danfoss Silicon Power as it means no business interruption.
